Trip to Knoxville/Golf Trip to Michigan
Back in March, who knew what was going to happen. We had our Knoxville, Tennessee, motorcycle trip planned again for May (around Memorial Day). We had eight lined up for our August Northern Michigan golf trip.
And then COVID-19 and lockdown. I've been working at the office, publishing annual reports. With everyone else remote -- clients, employees, vendors. What a painful season.
I have been playing golf at Woodbridge. Thankfully, when Golfsmith was going out of business, I bought a push cart. Been hanging in the garage for years (Tony questioned the purchase -- "you never walk"). Well, what a great clearance purchase it's been! In fact, there was push cart price gouging AND a push cart shortage with our group. We also had to get used to playing at 8:00 am, not our earlier time. And get used to first, having raised cups -- what fun to ram it to the cup. And then last weekend, the pool foam in the cup (doesn't make as good of a sound). The first time, didn't realize that walking Woodbridge is over seven miles. But, our foursome has played in 3:23, 3:28, 3:26 -- and Sunday in 3:01.
As of this week, the parks we ride in Tennessee seem to be opening and we think we'll get to go on our trip!
As of last week, some courses in Michigan began opening. We might still get to go on our trip (13 rounds of golf in a week). Still hard to say yet -- many of the courses aren't conducive to walking. At Boyne Mountain it takes 15 minutes to drive a cart to the top of the mountain to start playing! Don't know if I'd be up to playing 36 holes a day AND walking. If we're tired at the end of the week riding, couldn't imagine walking (and I doubt my pushcart would fit in my club glove bag to check).
But, still holding out hope.
