Different Kind of post - Dr. Warren Appointment

I don’t really know what this appointment (or most) are about. Tony gets to go, so that’s good! We check in.

I bring my WSJ. Temp check. Forms are already filled out. Nurse (or not sure what they are all called) asks some questions. Then Dr. Warren comes in. She says, yes, cancer. Starts spelling out options – and all of this lymph node talk that is new to me. I interrupt and say – double mastectomy. No arguments. She also checks out my boobs (yes, they are still really black and blue from the biopsies!)

We also talk about my dilemma: I’m on Aetna until January 31 – and then move to United Healthcare on February 1. Not sure yet, but I’m guessing this is eventually going to be a cluster to work out. She makes my appointment with Dr. Beale (the new boob guy is what I’ll call him) and then a follow up with her a couple of weeks later (not sure what this is about). I like her – and since there weren’t any warning signs, figure, let’s go for it. I still think that as much as we are spending at Medical City that paying for parking is ridiculous, even if it is only $1 - $4 per visit.

NOTE: FOR THOSE WHO KNOW ME, I’M A WORKAHOLIC. AND DECEMBER THROUGH MAY IS ANNUAL REPORT SEASON, MY BIGGEST, BUSIEST TIME OF THE YEAR. THIS IS FREAKING ME OUT. BUT, ONE POSITIVE THING ABOUT COVID-19: WORKING FROM HOME IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE AND WE’VE FIGURED IT OUT. AND ARTHUR HAS OFFERED TO PRINT AND DELIVER STUFF WHEN I NEED PRINTOUTS THAT MY DINKY BLACK AND WHITE BROTHER WON'T HANDLE.

After our Dr. Warren appointment (I also kicked off an annual report for Matador BEFORE this appointment – work as usual and Matador isn't far from Medical City), it’s time to tell some family. I first call Allison. Next Cathy and Dad. Then Mom. I think Tony called Al and Eileen. Then Arlo. Then Arthur. Enough for the day. And, yes, did it with a drink in hand. Way overdrinking at this time. And they all ask more questions than I can answer because I’m not one to ask too many questions. I have breast cancer. I am having a double mastectomy. I will recover. End of story. I don’t need to watch videos or completely understand the procedure that will be at Medical City Dallas Hospital. I know that my 32DD boobs will be history (but I have Bill’s paintings to document things -- thank you, Bill. I miss you.).
