Back to Franklin, Tennessee, and Roadtrip home to Dallas, Texas

On Wednesday morning, we get up, clean up the Music House (not much to do), load up, and head back to Franklin, Tennessee, to get Blackie and drop off the Uhaul. It’s about 110 miles to Franklin. Passed an Amish area with lots of Amish on buggies – maybe heading to work? They do clog up the highway.

Get to Uhaul and turn it in and load up Blackie. Before we head home, we stop at Moonshine Harley and get a couple of poker chips – we weren’t planning on this because I didn’t want any memories of our Sunday. But, decided that we may never make it back there and we needed the chips.

Loading up Blackie

Our route back to Dallas is going 40 to 30, through Memphis and Little Rock. It’s the most direct since Franklin is just south of Nashville – and we’re done with the Trace! OMG the semi traffic on 40 – and on 30 – is just amazing. I don’t drive for this route because it’s so crazy. And it’s more hilly between Nashville and Memphis than you may think. We look at lunch in Jackson – BTW, the Jammin Jackson 97.7 music station we found was great, playing old rap and RnB.

We’re going to be old and go to Cracker Barrel for an early supper. But we look to our right and there are storms brewing – look at our weather app and BIG STORMS BREWING and decided to keep driving to go through the storms. We do finally stop at a Cracker Barrel right before Memphis for a break.

Then back on the road across the Big Muddy over to Little Rock, picking up new storms along the way. Getting through Little Rock and up to Texarkana some of the storms are awful. And it’s getting dark and hard to see. The lightning show was powerful and electric – like fireworks. We stop at the Loves station we always seem to stop at when we do the “Northern roadtrip to Tennessee.” We’re finally in Texas but still have 100+ miles to home.

Like Tuesday, we pull home about 11:30 pm. So happy to see Abby and be home. Now we have to figure out how to get Blackie back on the road again. A good trip, but …
