Riverstone for Pancakes in Townsend and Back to Dallas

Disclosure: this is not a live blog and I’m writing it on June 4 back in Dallas

On Friday, Tony and I have about 50 miles to do so we have 1000 miles on this trip. Head over to our favorite breakfast spot in Townsend – Riverstone (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100094909845724) – for sweet cream pancakes.

(sweet cream pancake, cheese omelet, bacon, hash browns, toast and coffee)

Then over to the new Foothills to the old Foothills, jumping off at Lookout to do Top of the World and Happy Valley. We thought about doing the Tail since it’s paved, but realize that if we aren’t keen on it, we’ll either have to do it back, or take a long ride over the Cherohala Skyway to not do it twice.

We ride to the beginning – smells super oily and asphalt-y. Turn around and do the Foothill back. Yes, we did over 1000 miles on the trip! Load up Blackie.

We head back to Dallas on Saturday morning.

Had to take a picture of this Trump Superstore billboard in Tennessee. And, had to take pictures crossing each of the state lines (Tony said to grab B-roll since I take these pictures every year we come and go to Tennessee).

Stay in Monroe, Louisiana, for the night at the Hampton Inn and Suites (this will be our third stay here). Order Pizza Hut for the room since there is nothing really to eat on this side of 20. Nice evening and then up on Sunday morning early to head home, with a stop at Buc-ee’s in Terrell, Texas (Buc-ee's). Tony’s high school classmate, Kelly O’Neil, has some art and mugs and stuff there. We buy a coffee mug and gifts for Austin and his daughter, Kennedy, for taking care of the pups. And dealing with two days without power due to the storms on Tuesday in Dallas.

We disarm the cameras to the garage so we can sneak up on the puppies. They are really happy we’re home. And, happy that we got them Venison treats at Buc-ee’s! Another nice annual trip east.

OMG: as I’m post trip blog drafting, McGee comes for some love. And then I hear this noise from around the guest bathroom (he likes to sleep in the tub and drink out of the toilet). But this sounds like “tinkling.” He’s in the red room, peeing on the carpet, next to our bags from our trip. I go and tell Tony. I head back and Abby is in the red room. She’s sniffing McGee’s pee. And then goes over to Tony’s laundry bag – and pees on it! Is this, “don’t you leave again spite pee”?
