Day 1 and 2: On the Road Again

Truck loaded, trailer loaded (www.u-haul.com).

Motorcycle trailer from UHaul is great. And easy to load.

I work a half day, head home and throw Kat and her beds in and off we go to Maryville, Tennessee. Rain is showing up daily in the forecast, but it does every time we head out on our motorcycle trip.

Oreo truck on the road!

Blackberry makes it to Louisiana

Casinos are opening in Louisiana (Shreveport).

Off to Vicksburg, not knowing what to expect in this Covid-19 world we’re in. Dallas is pretty big on masks, but not sure about the rest. Our first stop is around Tyler – and NO ONE is wearing a mask on this stop. They looked at me like I was weird, but I didn’t care. Our next stop was in Louisiana – and again, NO ONE is wearing a mask at this stop. But what was different here was that the restaurants were closed, except for drive-thrus. Head into Mississippi to check into our Best Western in Vicksburg. They have the lobby closed and I check in through their window. We like this hotel, but it’s not great – the best feature is that it’s on the top of the hill, off the frontage road.

Get up and head out on Friday morning to Maryville. Through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and then Tennessee. Need to say that I hate driving through Chattanooga with the trailer (and I’m not even driving!). I did drive a few hours in Mississippi and Georgia. The “boring part.”

On our way to Al and Eileen’s, we stop at Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson (https://www.smh-d.com/) and buy Tony a three quarter helmet (needs one if we’re going to be riding in the rain) and then me a new helmet (the new ones have an extra viser and “buttons” on the top – and an air flow thing).  They are practicing social distancing by having one door as entrance, and one as exit. They also disinfected our hands before trying on the helmets.

Sunrise in Mississippi

Getting into Georgia (for a "minute").

Fancy corvette at SM HD.

Get to the house, unload, and wait for Tom to show up from Nashville area (he’s riding – and already whining about it raining the entire time). Get some sleep before our ride in the morning. We’re planning on Devils Triangle (https://devilstriangletn.com/).
