Liz, Pete and Tom Take Tuesday Afternoon “Off.”

After Donald Ross, we’re taking the afternoon off and decided to head to Chalevoix over the ferry to Mackinac or drive over the bridge to the Upper Peninsula. But first, we decide to take a field trip to the “pot shop” in Petoskey, where recreational marijuana is legal. I’ve visited one in Colorado, but not in Michigan (I think last time it had just been legalized, but not many towns had accepted it to have stores).

This one is right on 31 near the traffic light we turn left on to head to Boyne Highlands. So, coming from Boyne Highlands, we took a left, and then almost an immediate left into a pretty full “store” called Lume (https://www.lume.com/petoskey/ ) – Michigan’s largest Cannabis Company. From their website, they have quite a few locations and more coming soon. They also have a “fun to read” website, an excerpt: “We’re go-getters – out to experience the things we love to their full potential. We chase the good in the name of making it even better – the best, actually. So naturally, when we created Lume, we took the same approach. From our thoughtfully designed stores to our meticulously grown cannabis, we offer the best experience and products possible, with nothing to hide. All so you can enjoy them in your life’s pursuit of good times.”

Nice parking signage in their parking lot (no smoking)

Front of store with logo (Lume has multiple locations)

"Story" in Lobby at Lume

Lobby has an electronic menu (it rotates with items)

Sign on 31 to entrance.

Packaging (child safe).

They have a nice logo, nice storefront, even parking for motorcycles! You go in, check in at the front desk (not unlike in Colorado). We were then escorted in and shown around – again, nice set up, good branding, good packaging, nice staff. For those who know me, I’ve never done and still haven’t even though I can. But, I like to look around. And being in marketing and advertising, this industry intrigues me. Pete and Tom get some gummies.

And off we go to Charlevoix for “sight seeing” and lunch. We get in right after the bridge goes down again. Find parking on the “strip” and walk to the Villager Pub (https://thevillagerpub.com/ ) for lunch. Been going there for years – where we discovered Oberon beer! After lunch, ice cream and wandering around. We like to read some of the real estate flyers for property in the area. I have my sights on a nice place for a couple of million – but the views and waterfront are nice! Pretty much done with sightseeing after 10 minutes and we head back to the car and head a different way back to the cabin. On the way back, we run into Deer Lake, and … the Mountain courses. We get out to look at the beach. And I mention that we could go and find Jerry Lee (she wasn’t working on Monday) – grab our clubs and load up to play Alpine and “find Jerry Lee.” On this golf trip, we just don’t know what to do when we’re not golfing – even me, who is only kind of golfing! Pace is slower than last time, but a couple of groups let us through. The cart girl – is not Jerry Lee. Bummer. We don’t get to see her on this trip.

The things we do.

Villager Pub menu.

More things we do.

Pete the Cat has a book series (and checking out Amazon, a lot of Pete the Cat items. BTW: Pete has six cats.)

Pete takes a nap.

The two minute stop at the Mountain beach at Deer Lake before deciding to golf.

Barefoot golf in Michigan!

Barefoot golf in Michigan (who cares about chiggers).

Apples in Michigan. This one was starting to ripen and better than most).

After golf, we head back again to Forty Acres Tavern for dinner (Tom gets the salmon again – Pete and I the prime rib sandwiches). We “meet” some people – one couple now lives in Naperville, Illinois. I told them to go to Kregers for brats. Tuesday is "Bike Night" at the Mountain and they get quite a nice crowd. I send a picture to Tony. If the roads were better in Michigan, a lot of nice riding.

They use these ice cream balls for their shakes (BTW: not really good ice cream).

Bike Night at the Mountain on Tuesday.

Cool helmet. Michigan doesn't have a helmet law, but most wear.

And then back to the house to sleep before Wednesday’s rounds: Heather, then Arthur Hills.
