Abby’s One Year Anniversary with Us!

Today celebrates Abby’s one-year anniversary with us after Tony picked up the little brown girl from a farm/ranch where she was abandoned. While I wasn’t so keen on getting another dog with Kat getting so old, Abby’s our heart. We named her Abby because Honey, and Pumpkin, just aren’t our style. And, we were watching NCIS and like Abby’s look – thinking we could get her skull collars and stuff (we could).

Abby likes to cuddle in bed with me (and loves belly rubs).

Abby likes watching for squirrels through the bedroom window.

Abby was pretty pitiful when she was fixed. She also ate through the straps (fixed twice before abandoning the "cone.")

Abby likes to use the Wii Fit Balance Board to exercise with her Kong.

Abby can grab her Kong off the counter. Note that her red Kong matches our appliances.

Abby’s our little monster. Lots of personality. Lots of energy. Occasionally (well more than occasionally) rabid.

She thinks cookies are the best and sits at the jar in the kitchen every time she comes in or out of the house. Don’t know if we could switch from Mother Hubbards anymore. She also likes Greenies. She also likes any people food – except sliced American Cheese? And bananas. And carrots.

She “ate” her first bed. She’s eaten three Amazon firesticks (and, it pretty much means that if she eats the remote, you have to just get a new firestick with its new remote). She’s eaten Chuckie, my childhood teddy bear.

Abby "ate" Chuckie, my childhood teddy bear.

She loves her Kong (and knows what it means when we ask her to go and get it). We have a backup Kong in case one gets lost, as it did a while back.

So, for her anniversary, we reordered new bones (she’s an aggressive chewer). And a new, EXPENSIVE, bed. The bed arrived yesterday and Tony assembled it and brought it into the bedroom for her. Result: jump in bed with me and roll on her back for belly rubs. Hasn’t gotten in it yet, so can’t make much comment on it except that it looks pretty comfy and is big, and did I say expensive for the XL size so she has room to sprawl?

Happy Anniversary, Abby. We love you (but will kill you if you get Blackberry and destroy him).

Note on the bed: Abby thinks it's very comfy and sleeps in it at night. And, she hasn't eaten it yet.
